California Friendly Landscape, Partnering with City of Ceres and California Conservation Corps
The Ceres Garden Club has again put Motto into action by partnering with the City of Ceres on a water use information community education forum, on Saturday, April 30. Notable presentations included Turf Removal Rebates, Smart Irrigation Systems, California Native Plants, Native Sod, City water-use mandates, mulches & soil dressings, labor and assistance programs.
Jodie Scheffield, of Delta Blue Grass Company, presented on the data research proving native grass blends use 50-80% less water than traditional sod. Homeowners are thrilled to have an alternative to hardscape for turf removal.
Matt Stewart, Green Lion Landscape, presented on new and easy automatic watering systems that are not only convenient but idiot proof. Showing a video of a yard transformation, the results using water conservative plants and watering systems, were fabulous.
Jim Brugger, California Native Plant Society, presented the benefits to the use of native plants in landscape. Requiring NO water once established, need NO soil amendments or fertilizers, native plants are not only interesting, they support native birds, and other fauna.
Ryan Thornberry, BTY Concrete & Materials, presented numerous choices for mulches in addition to announcing that BTY will be offering a full commercial nursery of plant materials for every need. Ceres residents will soon have a local owned plant nursery. Yea!
Loretta Webb, City of Ceres, presented the Turf Removal Rebate Program and the landscape watering mandates.
Berni Hendrix, Ceres Garden Club, presented the contributions made by the Garden Club to enhance the community. Contributions to beautification throughout the community where mentioned. Education with youth garden, Safe Grad Night and scholarship was highlighted, in addition to the benefits to being part of an organization who pledges to support and preserve our local community and the world. Laura Bravinder, Ceres Garden Club, spoke on many of the fundraising ventures of the Ceres Garden Club and the programs that benefit.
