CLASS: HYPER TUFA
2nd Saturday at the Nursery is the place to be for a fun, hands-on take-home project. The nursery provides fresh hot coffee and donunts, so come early to enjoy a relaxing time to shop in the nursery.
The month of November 2nd Saturday featured Karen Thomas, Crafter/Artist , who has for many years served as Craft Chairman for the local Ceres Garden Club. Karen shared her experience from having taught numerous Hyper Tufa classes over many years to home garden enthusists. Following her formula for the best results, the perfect ratio of speciality concrete was hand mixed with just the right portions of peat moss and perilite, then activated with water. “It’s like the childhood experience of making mud pies”, stated Barbara Hawkins, who made a large round hyper tufa container. Mrs Thornberry made a giant yard mushroom which will grow moss and enhance that dark place in her garden. Participants from 7 years old to over 70 years young enjoyed a truly fun creative project at California Landscape Supply.
The variety of texture and technique in creating a porous project is simple with delightful results. The creativity of projects is endless. A number of participants had attended previous classes with Karen as instructor, as stated by Berni Hendrix, “Karen always shares something new and different at every class.”
