Past Club president Shirley Davis designed the Ceres Garden Club logo in 1996. Inspired by the origin of the name Ceres (Roman goddess of agriculture), the triangle is the Roman symbol for agriculture. The club name, date founded, and the club motto are displayed on the three sides of the triangle along with local grown fruits and nuts. At the end is the golden sunflower, Helianthus, which is the signature flower for the Club.
The Ceres Garden Club functioned for many years under founder Irmie Barnes. There were about twenty-five to thirty members, mostly farm wives. In memory of Irmie, The Ceres Garden Club purchased its very first Penny Pines Plantation. The Club was federated in 1997 by the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Incorporated.
